- Human Primary Chondrocytes – Chondrocytes in vivo produce and maintain the extracellular matrix of the cartilage. In vitro, chondrocytes after serial passages as a monolayer culture have been documented to lose their phenotypic markers and become de-differentiated. Re-differentiation can be induced by culturing the cells in a 3-D culture system.
