Curio Biotech

Founded in 2017, Curio Biotech Ltd is a science-based in vitro CRO providing custom and specialised contract research services to clients in the pharma, cosmetic and nutraceutical industries across three continents. We bring decades of experience in primary human cell and tissue culture to mimic the in vivo environment. To date, we have conducted projects in various fields such as dermatology, immuno-oncology, inflammation, fibrosis, metabolism, etc. For all these purposes, we have developed unique proprietary tools to isolate, grow and perform experiments on primary human cells in an interference-free manner. We use these products not only in the biology part of the discovery phase but also for quality control activities such as potency assays.

Curio Biotech Ltd is committed to the 3R’s (Replace, Reduce, Refine) principles and invests in the development of new products in the most natural way possible, mimicking all mechanisms and physiological conditions as closely as possible, without the need for serum or non-physiological chemicals or inducers. Our aim is to reformulate the defined culture media to make the composition as lean as possible to support primary human cells/tissues. We also participate in publicly funded programs to develop New Approach Methods (NAMs), such as a recent study funded by the Swiss 3RCC to develop a method to study maternal-fetal transfer.
